Added Sugar – The Imminent Nutrition Crisis/Opportunity

With focus shifted from cholesterol to calories and carbs, the next step is quickly becoming added sugar.
The average American consumes four times the maximum amount of added sugar in foods and beverages recommended by the WHO and two and half times the daily recommended consumption from the FDA.
We predict an increasing consumer focus on added sugar and assume that the CDC and professional and disease associations will emerge as leaders in promoting awareness in the USA.
Sugar taxes are becoming more common and in the UK the government is planning to limit the calorie content of food sold in stores and restaurants.
This webinar will cover:

• Can/should governments and potentially insurance companies, national health systems and employers legislate what people can eat?

• What can manufacturers, retailers, health plans and provider groups do to head off regulation?

• How can the many different interests in this market be synergized?

We’ve conducted research with our online Healthcare Consumer Panel to learn their understanding of nutrition and the role of sugar alongside other nutrients and will report highlights of the results.

Join Peter Simpson, one of the Principals at Segmedica, to understand market trends, events and likely short-term impacts in the USA and elsewhere.
